The MAN CAVE

My shop buildings at my home in Kentucky were HUGE. I had packed them with all sorts of tools, and equipment, and materials, and a lot more.

Since then, I have shifted gears, and I am headed in a completely new direction. I guess you could say that I bit off more than I could chew.

Now nearly all of the machines and tools were sold. I have kept a few of my favorites which will be moved to the garage area of my Vendetta toy hauler, so I can make artsy crafty things on the road, as time, and energy, and enthusiasm dictate.

I removed the bench/bed that is normally sold with the trailer, and also eliminated the upper bed platform.

I replaced them with a row of RIGID tool boxes to give me plenty of space (still not enough) to store and access all of the STUFF that must travel with me.

I placed a temporary plywood counter work surface on top of the tool boxes, because the top lids of these boxes do not flip up. So a counter work surface was a natural choice to give me some work space.

The lift arms that raised the bench/bed have also been repurposed to place a second counter space onto them, to give me more work area. I am also in the process of adding a second ‘HAPPIJAC’ lift system, which will give me a THIRD counter surface which I can raise above my head, or lower down to work height when needed. It will also control the FOURTH level of storage that was formerly the upper bed platform.

When it is all together,I will have accomplished about 90 sq.ft. of work surface area in a garage that only offers a 112 sq.ft. footprint. The top level will be used for things that I will seldom need to access, but will need to be accessible without crawling into side storage compartments, or running to a self-storage facility.

All of this will still give me the ability to back the SMART Car into the garage when I travel. That is quite an accomplishment!
